Blood: the official bodily fluid of mountain biking!
Gravel tour of Sugarloaf with… a bit of ice…
and blood…
Look, if you’re sensitive, don’t look at the photos…
We were riding fine, then on the first section of gravel, after about a mile of uneventful riding, I hit a patch of ice at decent speed and hit the deck…
In my defense, it’s really hard to see ice on white dirt roads, and I didn’t see any up to then. Post crash, it lead to a few miles riding very defensively (i.e. I was even slower than usual…)
It looked bad ass, but it really wasn’t. Just some abrasions, and the cold may have affected coagulation (It was around 24F (-5C) with some decent wind chill). But really no big deal, didn’t even hurt. Most of it is now gone after my shower.
